The Cross Section Template download contains the xsect_template shapefile (.dbf, .sbn, .sbx, .shp, .shx) that is used in redelineating existing floodplain maps to new terrain sources. The shapefile includes a sample cross section for a stream named Turkey Creek.

A copy of the xsect_template shapefile is used for digitizing FIS cross sections from georeferenced effective FIRM or floodway maps.

A second copy can be used to draw mapping (GIS) cross sections to fill gaps between digitized FIS cross sections.

Using a copy of the shapefile ensures that all fields are included and correct.  This allows the two shapefiles to be merged in WISE and the shapefile to be selected in the Project Options for a Hydraulics project.

For more information about using this file, consult Redelineation of Existing Flood Studies in the online Help or in Using the WISE Hydraulics Module.
